Welcome to the Bowel Cancer Screening Decision Aid...

Bowel cancer is the most common internal cancer in Australia (66 per 100,000 per year) and is the third leading cause of cancer deaths, with about 25 per 100,000 Australians dying from it each year.

There is good evidence that testing the faeces for blood every two years using a faecal occult blood test (FOBT) reduces the risks of bowel cancer. However, we also know that having screening tests can have some downsides.

This decision aid summarises these for you.

Decision aids like this are designed to help you become more actively involved in health choices.
